Abdullah ibn al-‘As reported that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, “Show mercy and you will be shown mercy. Forgive and Allah will forgive you. Woe to the vessels that catch words (i.e. the ears). Woe to those who persist and consciously continue in what they are doing.” [Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 380]
Al-Haafiz Ibn Rajab said: The things that a person may ask for from Allah, may He be glorified and exalted, are of two types: The first type is that which he knows is purely good, such as asking Him to instil fear of Allah in his heart and make him obedient and righteous, or asking Him for Paradise and seeking refuge with Him from Hell.Imam Al Ghazali, in the article, quotes for us the ayah that defines what true love to Allah (SWT) is. Allah (SWT) tells the Prophet (S): Say, [O Muhammad], “If you truly love Allah, then follow me; Allah will love you and forgive you your sins; and Allah is Forgiving and Merciful” [Qur’an, 3:31]. Allah (SWT) in this ayah tells the I said, 'O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! Invoke Allah to make me one of them." So the Prophet (ﷺ) invoked Allah for her and went to sleep again. He did the same (i.e. got up and told his dream) and Um Haran repeated her question and he gave the same reply. She said, "Invoke Allah to make me one of them." He said, "You are among the first batch." ioho6J. 202 21 179 57 61 486 321 178 339
